About

Who we are

Women in Tech Academy was founded on the lessons learned and experiences from over 25 years in the business world.
Naz, the Founder, is a crazy engineer and “wants to improve the world for women”.
As a side project to her corporate job, in 2012 she started to study issues for gender-equality in tech especially from her perspectives of a working mum with 2 school-aged kids.
During this time she networked with experts around the world, joined in conferences and participated in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Mentorship projects. She searched and reviewed the best practices not only from Europe but also from USA and from Australia.
As part of her corporate assignments and independent research she has developed valuable insights into the digital industrial revolution, new working culture of digital technology and as a result she decided to develop an online teaching organisation to enable women to build successful digital technical careers.

Our Vision

Our vision is to promote equality in the technical workplace by

  • enabling more women to apply for technical jobs and
  • consulting employers on implementation of women / family friendly work-organisations.

Our core principles

  • Equality: Eradicating discrimination based on gender, ethnic origin, belief, social background, skin color etc. We should eliminate the gender-bias / stereotyping from the minds of future generations.
  • Social Mobility: Everyone should have the opportunity to grow their career and as a result their social status and women should not be obliged to choose between family and a career.
  • Digital focus: We think that women have superb built-in skills needed for the digital and technical workplace and in order to progress digital technology women need to be equally represented in the workplace.

How we add value

We aim to bring 2 critical dimensions: ever increasing need for women empowerment and the workforce need for digital technologies.

We analyse the needs for women, especially mums who want to build a successful career that combines family commitments.

We advise technical employers how to implement impactful measures for gender-equality, women/ family friendly organisations and how to attract and retain Women in Tech.

We grouped the skills that are needed to have a successful technical career and a harmonized personal life in 3 categories:

  • Mum skills ( solutions how to deal with typical mom challenges)
  • Soft skills ( solutions how to deal with personal and team challenges)
  • Digital technical skills ( solutions for required technical jobs)

We provide an online based platform for mothers to take advantage fast-track programs, e-courses or mentoring. To support our community we also offer free webinars to build the core skills required by employers.

Our solution partners and best-practice owners are selected carefully and monitored continuously for the performance and quality.

As a side impact we want to facilitate real good-practice exchange between english and german speaking communities. Therefore we publish content in both languages and provide solutions in both languages.

Our Team

We have a Business Admin Team:

Nora: Academy Admin
Nora is an IT Freak, a Pregnancy Consultant. She supports the Team for IT related and general academy related tasks.

Olaf: Content manager. As a freelance journalist and former political person he is a gender-equalizer and represents the good men:)

Michelle: Legal advisor. Michelle is originally from US, our expert for all kind legal issues, e.g. european law, us law, german law.

Mahsa: Project Assistant
Mahsa is a PHD Student in Physic, a to be Changemaker for Women in Tech. She loves Data Science.

Naz: the busy scanner. She studied electronics engineering in her 20s.., she studied political science in her 30s.. She plans to study neuroscience when she is 60:)
She gets angry when she experiences any kind of gender-discrimination. She has been fighting against gender-bias / stereotyping since she was 6 years old..
Naz lives in Munich, with her 3 children of gen Z.

Our mentors:

We select the best available mentors who have experiences at technical companies either as HR or as hiring manager, consultants, or as an engineer and can advise our community accordingly.

Our mentors are from different backgrounds, english, american, australian, german, iran, turkish, french, italian..

We continuously increase our pool for mentors. If you know good-experts who share our vision and have similar experience, let us know.
